“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,”
2 Timothy 3:16

Having wisdom and understanding is better than having silver or gold.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

God’s power is made perfect in weakness

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Paul writes in his second letter to the Corinthians that God’s grace is sufficient, for God’s power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Despite human weaknesses, God’s grace accomplishes God’s purposes through them in a fallen and perverse world. It is a mind-boggling concept that the Holy, Just and Righteous Creator of the universe would use vile rebellious sinners to participate in His prefect work.

This reality should strengthen and encourage us in spite of life’s trials and challenges. God is near and He is at work (John 17, Roman 8:28). If it be suffering, persecution or even threat of death God is working these situations out for our good and ultimate glorification (Roman 8:28, Acts 14:22).

Throughout scripture we are told that God is present and is our continual help and refuge. At the same time the more one realizes his or her dependance on God (weaker, broken) the clearer God’s grace will shine through in that person’s life (1 Corinthians 2:3).

Jesus explains in John chapter 15 that whoever “abides” in Him and He in them, that person will bear much fruit, for apart from Him an individual can do nothing. (John 15:5)

First one must be “in” Jesus. Jesus must be their Lord and Savior.

Second, one must “abide” in Jesus, hence one must stay with Jesus and rely on Him as one only source of true strength (Ps. 46:1, Rom. 1:16), guidance (Ps. 119:105, 2 Peter 1:19) and protection (Matthew 10:28, Hebrew 13:6).

Third to sum this reality up Jesus explains in 15:5 that we can do “nothing”, that is absolutely not “one” thing, that could be considered praise worthy “good” apart from the blood of Christ (Roman 3:22).

A Soul's Value

Jesus said, "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” Mark 8:36-38

In other words Jesus is saying when man finds himself before the judgment seat of God awaiting eternal Judgement for his lost soul, with what will he be able to give in exchange for his soul? The answer is nothing! A man's soul is priceless!

Let us seriously consider who Jesus is in our lives today! Is He you Lord and Savior. In other words do you believe what he said about the human condition (sinful), you need as savior from eternal punishment, do you trust Him for this and is he the Lord of your life (John 14:6, Roman 3:23; 6:23, 1 Corinthian 6:20)?
