God’s Purpose

God’s plans and purposes have been formed from all eternity, and within Himself, for He is immutable, omniscience and omnipotent depending on and receiving counsel from no one (Isa. 46:10, Ps. 33:11, Pro. 19:21). God has such absolute control over all things that His knowledge of what will be must proceed from his purpose of that it shall be. That is unless He is reduced to simply a spectator watching hopelessly in the sense that no one should ever pray for help for He cannot help or intervene. Purpose cannot be from mere observation of nature, for He gives that nature, however nature can and has been corrupted. Nonetheless this corruption of nature could have been prevented if He so chose. Every purpose comes from God’s Holy nature and in His Holy nature He will perfectly judge the unbelieving displaying His Holy prefect justice and wrath (Pro. 16:4, 1 Pet. 2:8). These plans to carry out His purposes include all things whatsoever will come to pass; not somethings, but all things; not all things in general, but all things in particular.
